Hey Gus and Crew:
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for Colossus -- that was just about
the most awesome dance event I\'ve ever been to. Just finished
law school and the hellish California Bar and had not been out for
years. I\'m glad I made a return, and your party was the perfect
place to do it. Underworld was fantastic as well.
Thanks again for all your work!

Great website and events! When do you plan on announcing the events for New Years Eve 2006 in San Francisco? I dont live there and the sooner the events are announced the sooner I can make travel arrangements. Thanks!

For those who have been able to get over the shock of the recent press photos of Gus Bean in the B.A.R., he is providing a slew of disco options per usual for the weekend. Though most are for burb dwellers, a few are worth stumbling into. I LOVE that his site features a step-by-step explanation for how an underwear party works for his Underworld party. Of the slate of options he's offering I'd say MASS on Sunday at 1015 will be the biggest hit for the fun lads who might have skipped going out the other nights. ...

...Fellow party guru Gus Bean, who throws Mass in both San Francisco and in L.A., and Sundance in Guerneville—plus he owns Metropolis—said about the City, “I think it all swings like a pendulum. For awhile, it was kind of dead. Now, it seems like it’s reviving again. It’s definitely such a comfortable place. I think people, gay or straight, love to come here and enjoy the beauty, the architecture, the art, and of course, the gay community. For awhile there, when the dot coms were falling apart, it was pretty desolate, but I think it will always be somewhere in the top 10 of vacation spots.”

...Steve moved back to SF and not only reopened Dreamland but also reopened the Trocadero, albeit with a different name. Steve had brought in a new young promoter, Gus Bean, to do Saturday nights in the Trocadero space. Gus called the club Crew. Steve played at Crew and then Colossus until he moved to LA in 1990. ...

The last encounter between Andrew Cunanan and Gianni Versace came on Tuesday, police say, when the 27-year-old suspected spree killer shot the famed designer in the back of the head. The first encounter? Maybe as early as 1990 on the floor of a popular San Francisco gay nightclub.
That's the picture that's slowly developing, Polaroid-style, today as members of the San Francisco club scene from that era place both Versace and Cunanan at the now-defunct Colossus in the fall of that year--months before another reported encounter between the two men at the San Francisco Opera in 1991.
According to Gus Bean, who owned Colossus, the glamorous Italian clothier visited his club three times during its run from late 1989 to August 1992. In September 1990 alone, Versace, a "very cool, very, very polite" man in the words of Bean, did the Saturday night scene at Colossus two consecutive weekends. That's around the same time an acquaintance of Cunanan says he met the man now on the FBI's most-wanted list--at the club. ... So, did Cunanan really meet Versace at Colossus that night in 1990? Gruenwald had the impression he did. But he adds that Cunanan apparently lied about at least two other things during their hour-long conversation that night--that he was an heir to the Scripps newspaper fortune and that he attended Yale University.

Sundance was wonderful. Perfect weather with a cool breeze, clear skies,
fresh air and. hot boys! And did I mention hot boys? A special treat was meeting Kristine W after the show (some of her supporting crew were staying with my friends). She is an amazing and positive person - we connected immediately. Also the Sunday afterhours at Fab was amazing. The music and energy level was over the top! I like the way you did the lighting and
decorated inside. Overall a great weekend.
Thanks again!

• Mass San Diego: March 28th, 2004
Hi Gus and Kimberly!
Thanks so much for such a great time at the Mass SD party. I have been going
out less frequently lately, and so this was a welcome opportunity to try
something new (a new venue), and that was a nice change of scenery - wow,
what a beautiful place - that was a great choice, Gus! can't wait for the
next Mass SD! Keep up the great work, Gus!
Kimberly, it was great to hear you, after a long absence (since I haven't
been out as much recently). I especially loved that heavy bass music (w/o
lyrics) - not sure what that was called...but I really enjoyed dancing to
that! You did a great job!

I just want to let you know it was a great party on Sun. (Finally you
started in SD, you know SD is getting boring). Is that possible having
more "mass" in SD? Maybe once a month, 2 months or 3 months. I hope
you made enough fortune this time. Looking forward to another "mass" in
SD. Twins go-go boys are cute. By the way, securities were not friendly at all.
